Dear Mayor Galliano:
My name is Wenshi. I am a member of the New Oasis For Life community in China. We are very excited about some news we recently read in The UK’s Daily Mail, concerning your desire to increase the population of your mountain village in Bormida.
Let me introduce our community. The New Oasis for Life is a member of the international “Global Ecovillage Network”, or GEN. We were founded in April 18, 2009 by Mr. Xuefeng. We had successfully established nine (9) branches in Yunnan province, Jiangsu province, and Xinjiang autonomous region, all China, and each branch had between thirty (30) and forty (40) people before the Chinese government disbanded us. In recent years, we have been communicating and learning in active contact with the global ecological community and we have hosted visitors us from fifteen (15) countries, including Austria, Belgium, Britain, France, Germany, Sweden, and Switzerland in Europe, the United States and Canada in North America, and India, Japan, Malaysia, and New Zealand in Australasia, and we have all profited from each other.
Our core values are “Reverence for the Greatest Creator, LIFE, and Nature, and adherence to the way of the Greatest Creator”. We hope to establish a mode of production and life that develops harmoniously among individuals as well as with society and nature. Our purpose is to bring everyone into a peaceful, natural, kind, and happy era.
Our production mode of planting fruits and vegetables and other healthy agricultural products is to adopt permaculture farming methods and to transform our communities into garden farms that will attract people to visit and study our methods. The environments in every branch are a clean, tidy, elegant, and serene earthly paradises.
Everyone in the community is pleasant, joyful, free, and happy. We have no rules, regulations, or commandments in the community, but we all follow the path of nature and civilization. Every member is a collective worker, “from each according to their ability and to each according to their needs”. In the community, “no one pockets anything found on the road and doors are unbolted at night”. We provide nurturing to our children and support for our elderly.
Rich and colorful cultural entertainment and games take place during monthly performance parties in each branch. Everyone's truth, goodness, beauty, love, faith, honesty, and quality gets fully played out and everything spins in virtuous cycles. Therefore, we hope that this spiritual wealth will carry forward and lay the foundation for a better future for all.
We are very willing to participate in the construction of a small village in Bormida and believe sincerely that this would enrich its vitality. We will love every resident, tree, and bush there, because we are people of Nature and of God. If you will accept our offer, I truly believe that this small village of Bormida, would soon be transformed into another beautiful and desirable earthly paradise.Italy is a great country and her people are known to be friendly, tolerant, intelligent, and hardworking.
