Recently, the construction of the Thai home has been progressing with great enthusiasm. Over the past two weeks, Brother Fo has led everyone in completing the tiling of the main hall, and the roofing and window installations for four bedrooms have also been successfully completed. In addition, the eco-composting toilet and the wooden bridge connecting it to the living quarters are almost finished. Furthermore, Brother Fo and Brother Long have meticulously crafted six beds. Such progress and efficiency are truly remarkable!
From everyone’s state of being and the passionate songs of Brother Fo and Brother Long as they work tirelessly late into the night, we can feel that this is more than just a race against time to complete various construction tasks. It is a wholehearted immersion and burning passion. They seem to have entered a state of peak experience that outsiders may find hard to comprehend, yet those within it can deeply sense the joy and fulfillment of being utterly engrossed in their work.
In our home, what seems like ordinary and humble labor is imbued with the experience of pure and selfless living. Perhaps this is one of the secrets to achieving spiritual enlightenment—transcending oneself and achieving oneself hrough selfless dedication.
Every member who joins the Second Home must go through the “labor test” by participating in physical work. Only through hands-on labor can one truly understand the hardships of the working masses, developing a profound respect, empathy, and love for them. It is only by resonating with them through labor that one can steadfastly turn the grand aspiration of creating a harmonious and joyful new era into concrete action and practice.
In the Second Home of Lifechanyuan, those who are humble, hardworking, and simple are the most respected and welcomed. They may not be eloquent or articulate in grand philosophies, but no matter what kind of physical work they undertake, they do it with joy, peace, and devotion. Through their actions and smiles, they reveal hearts as pure as crystal and as radiant as gold.
Here, labor is no longer the toil of survival as it is in secular society; it is the primary necessity of life and the source of happiness and joy. Through labor, each person becomes a part of the rhythm of nature, connecting deeply with it. Labor drives away distracting thoughts, bringing increasing serenity to the heart, enabling the learning and appreciation of nature’s profound mysteries.
For newcomers transitioning from secular society to life in the second home, engaging in physical labor can be a challenging process. It requires not only physical stamina and perseverance but also a shift in mindset to overcome the biases and misconceptions about manual labor ingrained by society. At first, the body may feel burdened and fatigued, but with persistence, one begins to see arrogance, laziness, and impatience gradually dissipate. While the body exerts itself, the heart grows lighter, purer, steadier, and more joyful.
As days of adaptation pass, when the hoe strikes the soil with strength and tenderness, when one witnesses and nurtures the growth of seedlings from sprouting to flowering and fruiting, when the sound of the shovel aligns with the natural rhythm—neither hurried nor slow, perfectly balanced—and when laughter echoes through every corner of labor, what once seemed difficult transforms into happiness, and effort becomes the sweetness of honey. In a tranquil and orderly state of mind, any kind of labor turns into a joyful game. In the simplicity of daily tasks, one discovers the extraordinary wonders of the way of nature.
Of course, the second home does not only emphasize the importance of labor; it also cherishes every bit of beauty and joy in life: abundant food, stunning natural scenery, leisurely moments, heartfelt friendships, sweet love, and collective games and dances. These are the precious rewards bestowed by Greatest Creator after a day’s labor.
Under the serene night sky, everyone sings and dances , reveling in gratitude and joy, celebrating our beautiful lives. In our hearts, we silently pass on this love and blessing, praying that more and more people may experience a truly happy and peaceful life.
