ZEGG – a place for living and learning

To live in a community of 100 people reveals the need to build a strong infrastructure: From the satisfaction of the personal daily needs for art, culture and a social life, to the political commitment there is space for our whole potential.

There are many good reasons to live in a community. One of them is to get into contact with other people and most importantly with ourrselfs. In ZEGG we develope new forms of comunication and social ways of living together.  We believe that if we are able to talk to each other in an honest and open way, nearly every conflict can be solved. This is not possible without the existence of common values and a big personal effort. If we manage to find this new way of communcation, we will be able to build our communities on a solid ground on which every single one of us will be respected and valued.

Communication builds trust

A transparent communication can work miracles. Together we are able to plant fields of 16 hectares of land, lead an educational institution or find solutions for the daily difficulties of life in a community. People come together when they have lunch, play volleyball, go to the sauna or to our community-meetings. But isn´t this too overwhelming? The complete opposite is the case, because only a familiar atmosphere creates space for self-fulfillmente. This energy of creativity and movement is the motive to live in the ZEGG community for more than 100 unique people.

Forum & Communication

Social skills have two main components: the ability to manage conflict and the willingness to cooperate. At first sight these may seem opposed, but socially skilled people can apply each of them when it is appropriate and beneficial. Our seminars are designed for everyone looking for meaning and profound experiences in their life. Participants can broaden their personal leadership qualities, develop empathic communication skills and improve their ability to establish and lead teams in a cooperative way. What we offer is based on more than 30 years of experience in building community.

ZEGG-Forum

Forum creates a space of trust and openness between people. The aim is to reveal whatever is authentic, alive and true within us. In many social circumstances being seen by others can be experienced as "the death of possibilities". Forum overcomes this difficulty. In a supportive environment, the eyes of the others serve as generators for healing, growth and empowerment. "To see deeply is to love" – this is an experience very often gained in ZEGG-Forum.  

The Practicalities

ZEGG-Forum is a deep and intimate process for groups with 15 to 50 participants. The group gathers in a circle. One person, the presenter, enters the middle of the circle and shares whatever is alive in him or in her. She is invited to move around, to speak, act and to connect with her feelings. The only goal is to be or become authentic. The facilitators help this process by acting as "midwives" and assist the presenter. The circle supports with their full awareness and presence. Their role is to perceive and to bear witness.   Whatever happens in the middle serves as an example of similar processes within many of those observing. ZEGG-Forum has been used for many years in our community-building process. It is one of the best tools to create group cohesion. Forum has spread from our community into the world, where many communities and projects in different countries use it.
