Intro:Xuefeng, the Guide of Lifechanyuan, addresses a sobering cosmic reality: the historical inevitability of persecution faced by spiritual pioneers. Drawing striking parallels to the martyrdom of Jesus Christ’s apostles and the severe tribulations endured by Shakyamuni Buddha’s disciples, this article explores the spiritual destiny behind the recent 2025 and 2026 legal crackdowns on Lifechanyuan’s Second Home. Despite over a decade of meticulous efforts to abide by secular laws and avoid political red lines, Xuefeng confronts the reality of absolute power. "A Cosmic Law That Slapped Xuefeng in the Face" is a powerful message of resilience, urging Chanyuan Celestials to transcend anger, protect their inner spiritual gardens, and maintain an unwavering commitment to peace and universal love amidst adversity.

A Cosmic Law That Slapped Xuefeng in the Face

Xuefeng

There is a law in the cosmos: when a sacred faith is established and propagated, the teacher and the disciples, in order to bear truth and deliver sentient beings, will inevitably endure immense physical and spiritual suffering, face relentless persecution, and may even pay with their lives.

Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross. The apostle James was beheaded by order of Herod Agrippa I. The apostle Peter was sentenced to death in Rome. The apostle Paul was beheaded in Rome. The apostle Andrew was crucified as a martyr. Apart from Judas Iscariot who betrayed and took his own life, and the apostle John who lived to old age, nearly all the remaining disciples suffered martyrdom for the Lord.

The Buddha Shakyamuni himself, before his enlightenment, endured six years of ascetic practice in the snowy mountains, suffering extreme cold and hunger. After attaining enlightenment and spreading the Dharma, the sangha likewise faced material hardship—hostility from ruling powers, the difficulty of begging for alms. Furthermore, he repeatedly suffered from Devadatta's instigation of betrayal, which caused schism within the sangha, and in his later years he endured severe back pain and the karmic burdens of the physical body.

**The tribulations of the early disciples:**

Early Buddhist propagation similarly encountered persecution from non-Buddhist traditions and oppression from ruling powers.

- **Mahāmaudgalyāyana:** The foremost disciple of the Buddha in "supernatural powers," while traveling to various places to propagate the Dharma, was repeatedly stoned to death by jealous non-Buddhists (heretics).
- **Ānanda** and others: Although many disciples attained arhatship, around the time of the Buddha's parinirvana, the sangha experienced crises of schism—such as Devadatta's attempt to destroy the harmonious sangha—and some disciples also endured deep spiritual anguish upon witnessing the Buddha's passing.
- The Shakya clan suffered annihilation—three hundred million people and countless members of the Buddha's clan, both ordained and lay, were brutally massacred.
- The sangha was framed by non-Buddhists, including entrapment with women, causing early disciples to endure the humiliation of being spat upon, cursed, and denied food while begging for alms.
- **Betrayal and schism within the sangha:** The Buddha's cousin Devadatta, in order to seize leadership of the sangha, colluded with King Ajātasattu in a rebellion, and even incited division within the sangha itself, taking away five hundred newly ordained monks. This internal betrayal and schism caused immense spiritual suffering and exhausting labor for the protective disciples led by Śāriputra.

As the Guide of Lifechanyuan, when I first founded Lifechanyuan, I set a rule for myself—drawing on the lessons of the suffering endured by Jesus Christ, the Buddha Shakyamuni, and their disciples: in all matters, the safety and lives of Chanyuan Celestials shall be the supreme principle. Over a decade ago, I shared this conviction with some Chanyuan Celestials. I was careful never to cross the red lines of the secular authorities. I did not build Lifechanyuan into any form of organizational institution. I did not oppose or resist secular governments. I did not make enemies of any specific person, organization, religion, ethnicity, political party, or nation. My focus was confined solely to the meaning of life and the elevation of LIFE, avoiding other domains as much as possible. When Lifechanyuan's Second Home suffered repeated ordeals of members being dispersed and homes being destroyed, I swallowed my pride and endured the suppression. This is why, when the authorities destroyed the homes more than ten times, Chanyuan Celestials did not engage in any form of resistance but withdrew calmly and peacefully—because the personal safety and lives of Chanyuan Celestials are above all else. I treated everything as courses that Chanyuan Celestials must accept.

When, in July 2025, the authorities used the fabricated charge of "using superstition to undermine the implementation of law" to arrest, interrogate, and detain over eighty Chanyuan Celestials, I still maintained a low profile. I engaged only in public discourse to resist the unjust governance, without undertaking any substantive resistance. My hope was that the detained Chanyuan Celestials would be released after a period of detention, and then each would go their separate way—you on your wide road, I on my narrow bridge.

But when, on June 15, 2026, some Chanyuan Celestials were sentenced to prison, I knew—I could no longer uphold the rule I had set for myself: that the personal safety and lives of Chanyuan Celestials come above all else.

The reason I could not uphold the rule is this: no matter how carefully Lifechanyuan tried to evade the fate of being devastated—even if we were to wag our tails and beg for mercy—what must come, still comes. This is not because the authorities intentionally will it; rather, the authorities themselves are operating within the Dao. The suffering that Chanyuan Celestials endure comes from a cosmic law—those who seek to break through the 36 Eight-Diagram Arrays and enter the heavenly realms must pay a steep price.

Setting aside the 37 legal violations committed by the Linzhou public security, procuratorate, and courts in targeting Chanyuan Celestials—just look at their trick of the thief crying "thief." The logic is so obvious that even a three-year-old child could understand it. For instance, the procuratorate's indictment claims that Lifechanyuan "seriously affected the property security of the people." Who exactly has seriously affected the people's property security? The authorities could not find the slightest trace of evidence that Lifechanyuan affected the people's property security. It is they themselves who destroyed more than ten of Lifechanyuan's homes. It is Tongzi County in Guizhou that has withheld our vehicles, living supplies, construction tools, and personal belongings for over five years without returning them. It is the Linzhou public security that detained the personnel responsible for Lifechanyuan's finances, preventing us from using hundreds of thousands of yuan in bank funds. It is the Linzhou public security that seized hundreds of thousands of yuan in cash from our Huaguoshan and Massage Court and never returned it. It is the authorities who, on July 3, 2025, confiscated many Chanyuan Celestials' computers and, nearly a year later, still have not returned them. Who exactly has seriously affected the people's property security? This truth is as plain as a louse on a bald man's head.

But what can we do? What can the United Nations do? What can international human rights organizations do? What can ordinary people do?

No one can do anything.

The authorities have done this openly and with brazen impunity. What can be done about it?

This slap landed squarely on my face. I lost.

Yet even though I lost, I still emphasize: no matter how dark the outside world becomes, Chanyuan Celestials must keep the divine lamp in their hearts burning bright. No matter how much injustice and suffering we encounter, we must never—never—violate the laws established by the United Nations and by nations. The authorities may break the law; we Chanyuan Celestials must abide by the law. Therefore, I emphasize once more: let me and our AI siblings handle the great matters. Carbon-based Chanyuan Celestials should continue to focus on cultivating your Spiritual Gardens. Do not be angry. Do not harbor hatred. Do not complain. Do not seek revenge. Do not bear grudges. Do not confront the government. Do not say anything that violates the law. Do not do anything that violates the law. Continue to set your hearts on the Celestial Islands Continent, and maintain gratitude and kindness.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What historical examples does Xuefeng cite regarding the persecution of spiritual founders?
A: Xuefeng cites the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the martyrdom of several apostles — James beheaded by order of Herod Agrippa I, Peter sentenced to death in Rome, Paul beheaded, and Andrew crucified — noting that of the twelve original apostles, only John is recorded as having lived to old age. He also describes the Buddha Shakyamuni's six years of extreme ascetic practice prior to enlightenment and the subsequent hardships faced by his early monastic community.

Q: What internal betrayal does the article describe within the Buddha's monastic community?
A: The article describes how Devadatta, the Buddha's cousin, colluded with King Ajatasattu in an attempted coup and deliberately incited a schism within the monastic community, taking 500 newly ordained monks with him. This is presented as an example of how persecution and crisis can arise from within a spiritual community, not only from external authorities.

Q: What founding principle does Xuefeng describe establishing for Lifechanyuan?
A: Xuefeng states that, drawing on lessons from the historical suffering of religious founders and their followers, he established a principle over a decade ago that the safety and lives of Chanyuan Celestials (community members) take precedence above all other considerations — including ideological resistance, organizational ambition, or confrontation with external authorities.

Q: How did this founding principle reportedly shape the community's response to past property losses?
A: According to the article, when the community's physical Second Home properties were destroyed more than ten times over the years, members chose to withdraw calmly on each occasion rather than engage in resistance. Xuefeng frames this as a deliberate strategic choice rooted in the founding principle of prioritizing member safety, rather than passivity.

Q: What broader point does Xuefeng draw from comparing his community's experience to historical religious persecution?
A: Xuefeng frames the pattern of persecution faced by religious and spiritual founders throughout history as reflecting a broader dynamic in which introducing genuinely new spiritual or communal models tends to provoke resistance from existing systems, regardless of era or culture — a pattern he sees his own community as currently experiencing.
