When I arrived at Escott Bay Resort, I had no idea what to expect. In my mind, I had envisioned a much more rustic and perhaps uncomfortable place, but from the very first moment, I was pleasantly surprised. Instead of the simplicity I had anticipated, I found myself in a beautiful wooden house, with large windows that offered a spectacular view of the surrounding natural environment. It was a dreamlike setting, where nature blended with comfort, something I didn’t expect but was deeply grateful for.

One of the things that surprised me the most was having my own room for the first time in my life. Not only that, but I also had my own bathroom, which made the experience even more special. The private space offered me unexpected comfort, but it was the common areas that really became my favorite place in the house. They were cozy, warm, and perfect for relaxing after a day of outdoor activities.

However, my absolute favorite spot was the terrace. Every sunset I spent there, watching the colors of the sky reflecting on the lake, creating a magical atmosphere. It was the perfect place to reflect and feel completely connected with the nature surrounding me.

From the first day, Xue Feng, the host, welcomed me with a kindness that is rarely found. He invited me to share a meal with him and his wife, and what they served was an authentic feast: delicious and generous dishes that made me feel at home from the first bite. I couldn’t have asked for a better host. Xue Feng was always attentive to my needs, concerned about my well-being, and even worried when he saw me in potentially dangerous situations.


Despite the language barriers, we managed to communicate fluently and sincerely. With just a simple word, a gesture, or even a look, we knew exactly what the other wanted to say. I had never had such an attentive, understanding, and kind host like him before, which made my experience even more memorable.

The work at Escott Bay was also a pleasant surprise. There was always something new to do, and the tasks that repeated were activities I thoroughly enjoyed. I kept myself busy, but in a way that allowed me to connect with the environment. I explored the surroundings on foot, by bike, or by kayak, and every day I discovered something new.

When I wasn’t exploring, I spent time contemplating nature. I loved watching how the sun and clouds reflected on the lake, creating dreamlike landscapes. The birds were either fishing or, in some cases, just watching me as I worked, as if they, too, were part of my daily routine. But it wasn’t just the lake and birds that were fascinating. The mountains surrounding the area slowly began to transform as the season changed. Initially green and majestic, over time they became covered in white, gradually blanketed by snow. The trees and some plants turned shades of yellow, creating an impressive mix of colors that contrasted with the deep blue of the lake and the sky.

Every day, I felt more connected to the place, as if everything in nature was in perfect harmony, and I was part of that balance.

In summary, my stay at Escott Bay Resort was an experience that exceeded all my expectations. Not only did it provide me with comfort and unforgettable landscapes, but also the opportunity to build human connections and bond with nature in a way I had never experienced before. It’s a place I would undoubtedly return to time and time again.
